Making History: Celebrating the Graduates of the Class of 2024

  • by

On May 18th, Dietrich Bonhoeffer Academy is celebrating the school’s first ever graduating class. These five 8th grade students have truly left their mark, blazing a pathway to the future for our emerging middle school. We are proud to recognize each of these wonderful graduates and applaud the hard work that they accomplished in their time at DBA.

Colt Voelte

Colt joined us at DBA at the beginning of 8th grade. During his time with us, he learned the importance of a positive attitude and grit, or to “keep your head up and keep grinding.” His favorite academic activity was gathering data and doing probability calculations for the March Madness Math Project. His best memory from his time at DBA was getting a foul ball on a field trip to a Sugarland Space Cowboys game. Colt will be attending St. Francis Episcopal School for high school. He is really looking forward to playing basketball in the outstanding program there.

Lorelei Goldman

Lorelei joined us at DBA in January of her 7th grade year. At our school, she rediscovered the joys of learning and thoroughly appreciated the small, close community. Her favorite academic activity was the Oral History Project on her late grandmother. Poignantly, she interviewed her grandmother only a short time before her passing and has completed the project as a celebration of her life. Her best memory was hosting her classmates at the family ranch to see the total solar eclipse. Lorelei will be attending the Emery/Weiner School in the fall. She is looking forward to meeting new friends and participating in the studio arts program.

Thomas “Cade” Eixman

Cade was one of DBA’s original students, starting with us for 7th grade in the fall of 2022. The biggest lesson he took away from his time with us was the value of communication with his teachers and that “it is always okay to ask for help.” His favorite academic activity was engaging in pretend smuggling as a 19th century British merchant in Coach Lerch’s History Trade Game. His best DBA memory is making the game winning kick in our final PE kickball match. Cade will be attending St. Thomas High School in the fall. He is looking forward to exploring interesting topics in his academic classes, especially his new favorite subject of history.

Dexter Scott

Dexter was one of DBA’s original students, starting with us for 7th grade in the fall of 2022. The most important lesson he learned was perseverance, “to never give up.” His favorite activity during the school day was the opportunity to go to a quiet place and read his ELA book. He enjoyed The Outsiders this spring in particular. His best DBA memory was a visit to the Houston Zoo last year. Dexter will be attending Westbury Christian for high school. He is looking forward to both playing football and taking drawing classes.

Phillip Goodman

Phillip is one of the original DBA students, in fact the very first to enroll in our school. Here, he came to appreciate the blessings of a quality education and the importance of using his talents to help others. His favorite academic activity was designing and building a bridge for a STEM project. His best memory was seeking refuge in the camper trailer during a midnight thunderstorm on our school camping trip last spring. Phillip will be attending the Emery/Weiner School in the fall. He is looking forward to playing tennis and exploring technology in their innovation space.
